A Spanish version of this paper was published in November 1995 by the Instituto Boliviano de Technología Agropecuaria (BTA). The objective of the project was to analyze the economics of peasant households in San José Llanga Community, Province of Aroma, Department of La Paz. A data base on income, resources, and economic activities (on-farm and off-farm) was generated by this project.

This research was carried out as a part of the United States Agency for International Development Title XII Small Ruminant CRSP under grant number DAN-1328-G-00-0046-00. This technical report was reviewed by collaborating scientists in the SR-CRSP and the Instituto Boliviano de Technología Agropecuaria (IBTA).
